Terry Foundation Freshman Scholarship

The Terry Foundation provides full-ride scholarships that are renewable for up to four years to Texas high school students. These students are selected from a highly competitive pool of incoming freshmen who have excelled in academics, leadership, and character. This scholarship also considers financial need.

Applicants for this award who meet all eligibility criteria as determined by an initial screening by Sam Houston State University will be required to submit two letters of recommendation, one of which needs to be from a high school teacher, counselor, or administrator. Finalists for this award will be required to attend an interview with the Terry Foundation to be held in March. All final award selections are made by the Terry Foundation.

Recipients of this award are typically in the top ten percent of their high school graduating class and on average have earned an SAT/ACT score of 1200/25.

To be considered for the Terry Foundation Scholarship, applicants must demonstrate the following:

Proven leadership in their school or community
Financial need (Complete the FAFSA by priority deadline)
Strong academic record (grades, class rank, SAT/ACT scores, etc.)
Graduation from a Texas high school
Full-time enrollment at Sam Houston State University
Living on campus during the first year of the scholarship as part of the Terry Scholars Learning Community
