Micah P. Berry ROTC Memorial Scholarship

The Micah P. Berry ROTC Memorial Scholarship was established by Darian V. Henderson of Grand Prairie, Texas, Omar A. Davila of San Antonio, Texas, and Phillip E. Berry and Deborah A. Berry of Fort Worth, Texas. Micah was born and raised in Fort Worth, Texas. Micah joined the ROTC program in high school and continued the program at Sam Houston State University with a full ROTC scholarship. His goal was to be commissioned as an officer in the army. He kept the mark high as he was about to accomplish his Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from SHSU with a projected cumulative GPA of 4.0. Darian was born in Pine Bluff, Arkansas but over the course of his childhood, he moved back and forth between Grand Prairie, Texas, and Arkansas for school. After graduating high school, he enlisted in the National Guard where he served for five years. During that time, he attended Sam Houston State University where he pursued a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice while attending the ROTC program. While in the program he took part in various ROTC activities such as Schuder’s Rangers, Ranger Challenge, intermural sports, and the Army 10 miler. Omar Davila was born in Fort Worth, Texas. After high school, he enlisted in the Army Reserve as a Human Resource Specialist and began his military career in September 2011. After completing his military training, he served in the 350th Human Resource Company in Grand Prairie, Texas. In 2013, I transferred to the 490th Civil Affairs Battalion in Grand Prairie, Texas, and worked in their S1 shop. Omar attended Sam Houston State University and joined the Army Reserve Officer Training Corps, graduating with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Human Resource Management and a minor in Military Science in December of 2016.
