Women's Physical Education Scholarship Fund

The Women’s Physical Education Scholarship was established by Dr. Mary Ella Montague in 1977 to provide financial assistance to selected students majoring in physical education. Known by faculty and friends as “Monty”, Dr. Montague was referred to as the ‘Matriarch’ and founder of the dance program at SHSU. It is the Donor’s intent for the endowment to provide one or more annual scholarship awards to be announced in the spring and disbursed the following academic year, half in the fall and the remaining half in the spring semester. This scholarship was established to assist with education expenses.
