Julia Crockett Standley Memorial Scholarship Fund

The Julia Crockett Standley Memorial Scholarship was established by Dr, Lesta Burt in 1974 in memory of Julia Standley who lost her life in what is known as “The Huntsville Siege”, a hostage incident that occurred at the Texas Department of Criminal Justice-Huntsville Unit education and library facility, from July 27 to August 12, 1974. This scholarship was established to assist with education expenses.
