Rodney Cooper Legacy Endowed Scholarship for Criminal Justice

This scholarship honors the life of Rodney Cooper, who tragically passed away in 2025. Rodney lived a life marked by faith, family, and service to others. Rodney dedicated thirty years of service to the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, where his leadership and commitment made a lasting impact on countless lives. Before retiring in 2009, he served as Correctional Institutions Deputy Division Director for Prison and Jail Operations, a role in which he led with fairness, respect, and compassion. After retirement, Rodney continued his lifelong dedication to public service as Executive Director for LaSalle Corrections and as Private Jail Representative for the Texas Jail Association, where he was admired for his professionalism, wisdom, and integrity.
