Andy L. Wells Endowed Scholarship

Andy Wells was born on July 28, 1937, in Crockett, Texas, and passed away on September 17, 2024, in Livingston, Texas. He grew up in Pasadena but spent summers with his grandparents in Crockett, where helping his grandfather grow watermelons sparked his lifelong love of gardening. A 1956 graduate of Pasadena High School and a dedicated football player, he went on to earn both his Bachelor of Science (1961) and Master of Education (1968) from Sam Houston State University. Andy spent his career in education, first as a teacher and coach at Sealy ISD, then at Humble ISD, where he served as a science teacher, coach, assistant principal, and ultimately the founding principal of both Kingwood Middle School and Kingwood High School—leading the latter until his retirement in 1998. His impact continues to be honored through the naming of the Kingwood High School baseball field as Andy Wells Field and the longtime Andy Wells Cross Country Invitational. Known for his generosity, good humor, and unwavering compassion, Andy was a self-made man dedicated to helping others and leaving a lasting legacy in the lives of his students and community.
