Dream Achiever Scholarship

Heather Bailey ’77 earned her Business degree in Marketing from Sam Houston State University and went on to become a CPA and earn her MBA. With more than 40 years of experience, she built her career in the utility sector, serving in leadership roles including Controller, Treasurer, CIO, Executive Director, and co-COO of an electric transmission company she helped establish. She later founded her own consulting firm, advising utilities and government leaders on efficiency, growth, and industry change. Heather’s education at Sam Houston State University gave her the foundation to rise through the ranks and manage complex challenges. Coming from limited financial means, she was able to fund her education through part-time work and short-term loans, which fueled her belief that education should be accessible without burdensome debt. Since 2010, through her work with Dream Come True, she has supported individuals striving to move from poverty to successful careers.
