The SHSU First-Generation Center serves as a pillar for empowerment and achievement by championing, connecting, and equipping first-generation college students with the resources, relationships, and opportunities needed to thrive throughout their academic journey.
The First-Generation Center is dedicated to supporting first-generation students and their families as they navigate the university experience. The department focuses on three main areas: connecting and engaging first-generation students with campus resources and services, fostering a welcoming environment that encourages a strong sense of community and empowers students to succeed, and building and strengthening relationships with alumni, community organizations, and other groups that support first-generation students.
