William K. and Linda L. Macdonald Endowed Scholarship in Broadcast Journalism

The William K. and Linda Macdonald Scholarship was established by Linda Macdonald in memory of her husband William Macdonald. William also known as Bill is a native of Bellaire, Texas. Since the age of 5, Bill loved to “make the pictures wiggle” and had a film camera and projector early in life. He received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Radio, Television, and Film from the University of Houston in 1967. He worked at Houston radio and television stations before moving to Galveston to help set up a state-of-the-art medical educational television department at The University of Texas Medical Branch. He owned and operated Macdonald Studios on the Strand in Galveston and continued to tape news stories for the Houston television stations. Linda Macdonald a native of Galveston, Texas received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Journalism from SHSU in 1969. In an era when the school newspaper, the Houstonian, was the primary source of information for the campus Linda served as news and feature editor. She was as editor of Whetstone the student literary magazine. After graduation, Linda worked in the Public Information Office at The University of Texas Medical Branch. She became Director of Communications, serving as a spokesperson, and produced award-winning publications
