Dr. Aneika Simmons First Generation Scholarship
The Dr. Aneika Simmons First Generation Scholarship was established to honor Dr. Simmons for her commitment to SHSU. Dr. Simmons became a professor in the College of Business Administration (COBA) in 2006. She has also served as the former Interim Associate Vice Provost for Faculty Success in the Office of the Provost, the Director for DEI for COBA, and the DPTAC Chair for the Department of Management, Marketing, and Information Systems. During her time at SHSU she has served on multiple committees such as the Faculty Senator for the College of Business and as a member of the Graduate Appeals Committee, a Faculty Professional Development Committee (co-chair), a member of the Attendance Reporting Improvements Team; an Alpha Kappa Psi organization (co-advisor); and as a recurring presenter for The Learning Academies: Management Academy. Dr. Simmons has conducted academic research on creativity, diversity, leadership, and justice for many years. She believes in honoring the dignity and humanity of all people. After being selected as one of two Faculty Administrative Fellows by SHSU’s Office of the Provost in 2021, Dr. Simmons led a project to help make the campus more burnout-resistant at the university, college, and departmental levels. Among other related efforts, she worked with a team to address burnout at three events (e.g., SHSU Building a Burnout Resistant Campus Workshops – Next Steps, University Camp-Us Day).
