Christopher Charles White was born October 12, 1987, in Cleveland, Tenn. His family, including grandparents Dr. Robert and Kathryn S. White, father Vardaman White, stepmother Dr. Worawan White, and mother Crystal Hindman White, stressed the importance of education throughout his youth. Prior to transferring to UAB, he attended The University of Alabama where he was an active member of Sigma Pi Fraternity, Theta Omicron Chapter. Christopher was a gifted writer. He worked as a proposal manager in government contracting and was awarded more than 100 million dollars in contracts. Christopher’s aunt, Dr. Alisa White, became Sam Houston State University’s president in 2020. Chris took great interest in his aunt’s academic life. He kept up with the Bearkats, particularly during football season. He watched scores, recruitment, and conference news. He followed SHSU news and events and served as a mini PR arm for Sam. Christopher often reminded his aunt to let Sam students know that English majors could have fulfilling, well-paying careers, and she carried his message to many new students and their parents.
