Brian McColpin Cheerleading Scholarship

The Brian McColpin Cheerleading Scholarship was established by Stephanie Carraway, Jennie Farmer, Courtney McGlynn & Lacey Price, former members of the Sam Houston State University All-Girl Cheerleading Squad from 2009-2013. The donors are wanting to establish this scholarship to honor their former coach, now friend and colleague, for his commitment to the Sam Houston Cheerleading Squads. Without Brian’s perseverance, the squad would not be where it is today. The four donors also recognize their lifelong friendship is a direct result of their membership in the squad. The donors are providing the funding for this scholarship to honor Brian’s mantra, “Be the alumni you always wanted.”

Brian Scott McColpin came to Sam Houston State University in 2008 as the Spirit Coordinator. In this role, he oversaw all the spirit programs while exclusively coaching Co-Ed, All-Girl, and the Sammy the Bearkat Mascot Team. Brian’s first-year, Co-Ed placed 4th and UCA College Nationals in Orlando Florida, and All-Girl placed 7th at NCA College Nationals in Daytona Beach, Florida. In 2010, Brian brought home two National Titles from NCA/NDA Nationals with the Orange Pride Dance Team and the Sammy the Bearkat Mascot team. Since 2010, Brian has earned 24 national titles at Sam Houston State University, the most out of any sport or recreational activity on campus.
