Dr. David Henderson Education Endowed Scholarship
The Dr. David L. Henderson Education Endowed Scholarship was established by Dr. David Henderson of Temple, TX. Dr. David Henderson was a dedicated educator for 52 years. Dr. Henderson graduated from Dumas High School in 1961 and then got his associate degree in mathematics from Amarillo College. He went to West Texas State University where he received his Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics/Chemistry and continued to get his Master of Education in Math Education/Psychology in 1968. Dr. Henderson started his teaching career at Hereford High School in 1964 where he taught math and science. In 1968-70 he was teaching at Texas Tech University as an Instructor in Education. While an Instructor of Education at Texas Tech he continued his education and completed his doctorate in Secondary Education/Educational Media. He taught at Middle Tennessee State University where he was an Assistant Professor of Education. After a year away from his home state of Texas he returned to become a professor in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction at Sam Houston State University. He was given the title of Professor Emeritus in 2014. Dr. Henderson was dedicated to teaching and taught at Sam Houston from 1971 to 2022, the last 10 years teaching online as an adjunct professor.
