Kenneth C. and Hortense Schoppe Endowed Scholarship

The Kenneth C. and Hortense Schoppe Endowed Scholarship was a gift left from the Estate of Mrs. Vickers. Patricia Ann “Pat” Vickers was born on November 12, 1936, to Henry James Vickers and Ruby Trawick Vickers. She passed away on Friday, May 13, 2022, in Houston, Texas. She was laid to rest in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park in Lufkin, Texas near her mother. Patricia grew up in Madisonville, Texas where her mother owned and operated the Madisonville Flower Shop. She graduated as valedictorian of the Madisonville High School senior class in 1954. Patricia continued her education at Sam Houston State University and graduated with the highest possible honors of Summa Cum Laude in 1958. Immediately after graduation, Patricia began working as executive secretary for Kenneth C. Schoppe, Sr., Vice President of Exploration at Humble Oil, now ExxonMobil. Patricia spent her entire professional career with ExxonMobil. Kenneth Schoppe, Sr. was the Vice President of Exploration at Humble Oil in 1958. At the time, Sam Houston State University graduates were highly recruited by Humble Oil. Kenneth hired Patricia Vickers in 1958 to serve as his executive secretary.
