Laura (Wilson) Dzwigalski Memorial Endowed Scholarship

The Laura (Wilson) Dzwigalski Memorial Endowed Scholarship was established by Virginia Whitestone of Fairfax, Virginia. Laura and her sister Virginia grew up in Spring, Texas and both made the decision to attend Sam Houston in 2002. Laura graduated in 2004 summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice. While pursuing her career full-time, Laura completed Sam Houston’s online Master of Science degree in Criminal Justice Leadership and Management in 2011. While at SHSU, Laura and Virginia joined Lambda Alpha Epsilon, the criminal justice student organization, during their second semester. They traveled to various LAE regional and national conferences, where they earned high marks in academic and crime scene competitions. Laura found her home in Senoia, Georgia, where she lived until her death. She was an award-winning financial advisor with Edward Jones, where she took an inclusive approach to spreading financial literacy and made financial planning accessible to a broad audience. This endowment was established by Laura’s family as a tribute to one of her favorite times in her life. SHSU was an integral part of Laura’s story and a time filled with many happy memories. Laura was also the proud recipient of similar SHSU College of Criminal Justice scholarships and understood the impact that they make.
