Walker M. Powell Baseball Scholarship

Walker Powell is a legacy Bearkat, having followed in both his parents’ and brother’s footsteps in earning his undergraduate degree from the College of Business Administration in 2018. His father, Walt is the Class of 1978, and his mother, Nelwyn, is Class of 1981. His brother, Wyatt, is class of 2015, and a former outfielder for the Bearkat Baseball Team. Walker is a licensed Realtor at HomeLand Properties in Huntsville. Along with the knowledge from his successful real estate career, he has over 10 years of experience in land and wildlife management including several years in the whitetail deer breeding industry, and he holds the prestigious title of an Accredited Land Consultant through the Realtors Land Institute. Walker was recognized as a “Top 40 under 40” agent for the greater Houston area real estate market in 2020. Walker became a Life Member of the Alumni Association in April of 2018 and has remained engaged in university activities as his time will allow. He is shifting his prior practice of advertising with the SHSU Bearkat Baseball Team to this plan to provide a scholarship that can benefit a member of the SHSU Bearkat Baseball Team.
