Winnie Laurene Ragsdale Endowed Scholarship

The Winnie Laurene Ragsdale Scholarship was established by John R. Ragsdale in honor of his mother, Winnie Laurene Ragsdale, who served as the City Librarian in the Humble branch of Harris County. After retiring as librarian at the age of 78, she became Director of the Humble Museum, serving in this capacity until she retired at the age of 90. Though Mrs. Ragsdale’s formal education was limited, she received her accreditation in Library Science from the Harris County Library System. She was quite proud of having done some of her continuing education at Sam Houston State University.
