Gibson "Gib" D. Lewis Scholarship in Business

The Gibson “Gib” D. Lewis Scholarship in Business was established by Gibson D. Lewis to provide financial assistance to students from Tarrant County, Texas who seek business administration degrees from Sam Houston State University. Gib Lewis is a former member of the Texas House of Representatives and was the first individual in Texas history to serve for five terms as the Speaker of the House. As a member of the Select Committee on Public Education, he was a key figure in enacting one of the most sweeping reforms in the history of Texas public education. Mr. Lewis served 4 years in the Air Force, attended Sam Houston State Teachers College, and serves as a member of the College of Business Advisory Council.
