Brittany Lynn Averitt Criminal Justice Endowed Scholarship
Brittany Lynn Averitt was born in Corsicana, Texas on July 6, 1990. After graduating from Corsicana High School in 2008, Brittany attended Navarro Junior College. She then transferred to Sam Houston State University where she was a senior and anticipated graduating in May 2013 with a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice. The victim of an untimely event, her life tragically ended on February 4, 2013 in a fatal traffic accident near Corsicana. This scholarship was established to assist with education expenses. Brittany was described by all as a vibrant, fun-loving person who knew no stranger. She lived her short life for others and loved her family and friends more than anything. She was smart, witty and full of spirit. Her laughter was infectious, and her smile could brighten a room. She dreamed of one day helping others and looked forward to making a positive impact on their lives. Her time on earth truly embodied Ralph Waldo Emerson’s quote, “It is not length of life. but depth of life.” Brittany was a beloved daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, girlfriend and friend. Her passion for helping others in life encouraged her family and a host of friends to unite their funds and establish the Brittany Lynn Averitt Criminal Justice Scholarship Endowment that will assist deserving students for years to come. “Bitt-Bitt” is greatly missed by all who knew her but through this scholarship her passion and memory will remain alive forever
