Estill Family COBA Endowed Scholarship
The Estill Family COBA is established by Robert E. Estill of Houston, Texas in honor of his parents Junius Fishburne Estill, JR. and Mary Louise Embry Estill. Mr. Estill wishes to provide support for students with an early interest in the Business field. Junius Fishburne Estill, Jr., was born September 21, 1903, in Wharton, Texas. He graduated from Texas A&M University in 1925 with a degree in Electrical Engineering, Junius also received a Law degree from a law school in Houston. Junius had a successful career with the Houston Lighting & Power Company, initially as Purchasing Agent and finally as Senior Vice-President for Purchasing and Stores. On April 18, 1930, Junius married Marry Louse Embry in Houston, Texas. Mary Louise Embry Estill was born on June 24, 1905, in Lago, Texas. She graduated from Rice Institute in 1924 with a major in English. It was while she was at Rice, she developed her love for teaching. Mary and Mrs. Eva Parker started a school for little children called “Little Helpers School”. Later Mary went on to teach at Lamar High School. Junius and Mary were proud supporters of their children’s and grandchildren’s education and encouraged their ambitions at the University. Robert E. Estill and his family have deep Texas roots and have proudly supported higher education for students at Sam Houston State University. Robert Estill graduated in 1961 from Rice University with a degree in Accounting and Economics. He later attended Sam Houston State University where he earned his MBA in 1966. After graduating he started his career as a Revenue Agent with the IRS.
