Shaw Family Scholarship

The Shaw Family Scholarship is established by Courtney L. Shaw of Baytown, Texas in honor of and in gratitude for the scholarship support she received while attending the Sam Houston State University. Courtney L. Shaw was born in 1996 to John and Betty Shaw of Baytown, Texas. She earned her Bachelor of Business Administration from Sam Houston in 2018 and her Doctorate in Law from the University of Texas in 2021. She is a licensed and practicing attorney in the State of Texas. Courtney’s father studied at Sam Houston and went on to earn his bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Houston. He has since retired after a career in law enforcement with the Baytown Police Department. Courtney’s mother is still pursuing her career as a nurse. While Courtney was attending Sam Houston, her father suffered illness that impacted his earning power that would have jeopardized Courtney’s pursuit of her college education had it not been for the scholarships she was awarded through the College of Business Administration. With Courtney’s career now taking off, she and her family wish to pay that generosity forward by establishing this annual scholarship fund.
