SHSU Rugby Memorial Scholarship

The Bearkat Rugby Alumni Association (BRAA), formerly the Rugby Alumni of Sam Houston, was originally formed in 1978. The main goal of the BRAA is to support the SHSU Rugby club financially and to lessen administrative burdens on the club’s coaches, leaders and managers. The BRAA spends a significant amount of time coordinating events, fundraisers, and creating apparel and other goods to support the club’s needs for equipment, travel and other needs associated with the club. The SHSU Rugby Memorial Scholarship was formed by combining three formerly established funds; the Lindsey-Parotti Honorary Endowment, the Mike Mahon Memorial Rugby Scholarship and the Jay Shepard Memorial Rugby Scholarship. Dewitte Lindsey and Philip Parotti were the founding members of the SHSU Rugby Football Club in 1973. Mike Mahon and Jay Shepard were former members of the Rugby Team.
