Jennie M. Hollis Endowed Scholarship

Gendon M. “Buddy” and Jennie (Mims) Hollis were married on September 2, 1961. They then moved to Huntsville where they both attended Sam Houston State University. Buddy graduated in 1964 with a BBA in Business Administration. After graduation, he, Jennie and their two children returned to Jasper where Buddy continued to work at Hollis Tire Company. Jennie graduated in 1963 with a BS in elementary education. Upon their move back to Jasper, Jennie worked as an elementary teacher and later an administrator for Jasper Independent School District. This endowment was established by Buddy and Jennie’s two children Steve and Kerry. Their decision to create this endowment fund is based first on their appreciation for SHSU and second on their fond memories of being students at SHSU. They see education as the foundation for lifetime of success and want to ensure that others are able to pursue their dreams and goals.
