David Warren-Hammack Memorial Endowed Scholarship

David Warren-Hammack is being memorialized by the Department of Biological Sciences for his love of teaching and research. David, known to many in the department as “Cactus Dave” came to SHSU in the Spring of 2012, and quickly began his research career in plant biology under the guidance of Dr. Chris Randle. His love of succulent plants resulted in his independently funded research on propagation of cacti through hydroponics. He graduated with his bachelor’s degree he returned to SHSU for his master’s research on seed germination and micropropagation of cacti. Dave was beloved by his colleagues and undergraduate students for his quick and quirky sense of humor, his enthusiasm for biology, and mostly for his kindness. He would be so proud to know that students were obtaining their dreams under his name
