Helen Cochran Gilliland Human Resources Management Endowed Scholarship

Helen Gilliland is the mother of Emily J. Reed and the mother-in-law of Paul Reed. She was employed by Sears and Roebuck for many years in Indiana where she and her family lived. Dr. Paul R. Reed, Sr. was raised in Indiana, next door to the Gilliland family. He and Jan were married in 1956 and enjoyed 53 years together before her death in 2009. Dr. Reed joined the Sam Houston State University faculty in 1983, teaching in the Department of Management and Marketing. Upon his retirement in 2001, he was named Professor Emeritus of Management. This endowment was established by Dr. Reed and his late wife Jan in memory of Helen C. Gilliland.
