John Patrick Singleton (Class of 1965) Memorial Scholarship

John Patrick “Pat” Singleton was born September 23, 1940 in Houston, Texas. He grew up in Houston and graduated from Austin High School. He graduated from Sam Houston State University in 1965 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration. He married his wife Paulette in 1971 and became a father to Paulette’s daughter, Dorraine. Pat was a life-long advocate of Sam Houston and in fact, was insistent that his daughter attend Sam Houston upon her high school graduation in 1980. Pat also loved the city of Huntsville and built a weekend home there which would later become his residence in 1982. Upon moving to Huntsville permanently, Pat operated his own business, Singleton Building Company. He was an amazing craftsman and his work can be seen all over Huntsville. He later built another house on his land in Huntsville and lived there until his death in May 2012.
