Institute for Forensic Research Training and Innovation (IFRTI)
This scholarship is established by the SHSU College of Criminal Justice. The College of Criminal Justice is committed to providing students with a quality education. Furthermore, students gain an appreciation of their role as criminal justice professionals and as contributing members of society. As a part of a public university, the College also is committed to public service. The university baccalaureate core curriculum provides the foundation for talents necessary to succeed in the criminal justice profession and in society. The College of Criminal Justice has developed a regional and national reputation for excellence. The academic offerings include master and doctoral level programs in forensic science. The mission of the Institute for Forensic Research, Training, and Innovation (IFRTI) is to advance the practice of forensic science through strategic academic-industrial partnerships, industrially relevant research, and to deliver highly specialized training to the forensic practitioners and stakeholders. Through this scholarship, the IFRTI hopes to promote the study and understanding of forensic science and its relation to criminal justice.
