Fred Pirkle Endowed Scholarship

Originally from San Antonio, Texas, Mr. Fred Pirkle graduated from Sam Houston State University in 1970 with a degree in Industrial Arts with a minor in Business Administration. He went on to obtain his Master’s degree in 1971 in Arts and Industrial Technology. After teaching at Cy Fair ISD and Jersey Village Senior High, Fred opened up a part time BBQ catering business where he would become known as “Shotgun Fred” as he traveled the country competing in cookoffs. He later founded Threm-Omega_tech, Inc. in 1982 in Pennsylvania where his company would design and manufacture the most advanced, reliable, compact self actuated valve for temperature control available. His love for industrial technology and innovativeness encouraged him to establish this endowment. This scholarship was established to assist with education expenses.
