Michelle A. Edwards Memorial Endowed Scholarship
The Michelle Annette Edwards Memorial Endowed Scholarship was established by Kathy J. Edwards of Brownwood, Texas and Christy Edwards Bunn of The Woodlands, Texas in memory of Michelle A. Edwards, daughter and sister of the donors. Michelle graduated in the top 10% of her high school in Brownwood, and became an SHSU Criminal Justice major focusing on Victim Studies with a minor in Spanish. While at SHSU, she was a member of the Freshman Leadership Program, participated in intramural sports at both SHSU and the City of Huntsville, and made the Dean’s list. Michelle had a heart for the underprivileged, volunteering at animal shelters and in the disabled community of both Brownwood and Huntsville. Her dream was to become a lawyer and child advocate, and she strived to become bilingual so she could serve multiple cultural communities. Michelle studied abroad in Mexico following her sophomore year. On her last weekend there, she tragically passed in an auto-pedestrian accident. This scholarship is to honor the passion Michelle had for life, and for SHSU; which she loved dearly. It is her family’s hope that her passion will be passed on to other students who can carry her dreams of making the world a better place.
