Montague Dance Department Endowed Scholarship

The Montague Dance Scholarship Endowment was established in 1984 by the Sam Houston State University Dance Program to provide financial assistance to students in the dance program. Dr. Mary Ella Montague, a former associate dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, was the original faculty member who established the dance program at Sam Houston State University. Fondly referred to by students and friends as “Monty”, she was considered as the matriarch of dance at Sam Houston.
