Sue Walker Rogers Nursing Endowed Scholarship
Mrs. Rogers was born and raised in Willis, Texas. She attended Sam Houston State Teachers Colelge, Graduating with a BS in home economics in 1946. The day of her graduation was her father’s birthday and her wedding day. She married James “Jim” Rogers. She taught high school home economics for 30 years, long enough to teach two generations at one school. In 1954, the couple moved to Denton where they lived until 2005 when they moved back to Huntsville, wehre Mrs. Rogers still lives. James was a professor of journalism-, teaching computer publishing. He was a professor and administrator at the University of North Texas for 50 years. Five years after his retirement, he wrote a book about UNT’s history.
This scholarship was established to assist with education expenses.
