Robert and Erin Steele Science Scholarship
Robert graduated from Milby High School in Houston and began his freshman year at Sam Houston State University in the fall of 1975. He was in the .first class of students to participate in the 3/2 program which allowed students to earn a Bachelor of Science degree from SHSU and an engineering degree from a partner university. He was awarded the Outstanding Junior Physics Student Award in 1978. Robert graduated with honors in 1980 with a Physics degree from SHSU and a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Texas A&M. Erin graduated from Scarborough High School in Houston and began her freshman year at SHSU in the fall of 1976. While at Sam Houston, she was inducted into Kappa Delta Pi Education Honor Society and served as an Orange Key. Erin graduated Summa Cum Laude in 1980 with a bachelor’s degree in Speech Language Pathology with a minor in Special Education. Robert and Erin met in 1977 and married in 1980. They live and work in Pearland, TX. The Steeles are grateful for their many blessings and believe in giving back. Both Erin and Robert grew up in Houston, Texas from humble beginnings. Their hard work and success have enabled them to provide scholarships to children of employees of Texas Honing, Inc. and to support their .favorite causes. In 2018, the Steeles saw a need of SHSU student golfers and built the Steele Golf Facility at the SHSU Raven Nest Golf Course.
