Thomas F. Davis Football Endowed Scholarship

The Thomas F. Davis Football Endowed Scholarship was established by Patty Sanders Davis of Huntsville, Texas, Rand and Karen Schleusener of Rapid City, South Dakota, and Ginny A. Davis of Durango, Colorado in honor of Thomas F. Davis. Tom Davis entered SHSU in 1953, he was a walk-on in football and earned a full scholarship. Mr. Davis was a four-year letterman. After obtaining his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in mathematics from SHSU, he accepted a teaching position at SHSU in 1957. He received his PhD in mathematics from UT-Austin and returned to SHSU in 1965 where he taught mathematics until his retirement in 2004. It is the Donors’ intent to provide one or more scholarship awards for a minimum of $1,000 each to be announced in the spring and disbursed the following academic year, half in the fall and the remaining half in the spring semester. Scholarship awards shall not exceed the earnings of the endowment. This scholarship was established to assist with education expenses.
