Susan L. Canfield Memorial Endowed Scholarship

The Susan L. Canfield Memorial Scholarship was established by friends, family and co-workers in memory of the late Susan L. Canfield, who died in the line of duty at the Wynne Unit of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice in September 2007. Two inmates, attempting to escape in a stolen vehicle, ran over Ms. Canfield as she was making an effort to apprehend them on horseback. It is the Donor’s intent for the endowment to provide one or more annual scholarship awards at a minimum of $1,000 each to be announced in the spring and disbursed the following academic year, half in the fall and the remaining half in the spring semester. This scholarship was established to assist with education expenses.
