Gregory E. and Mary Kay Crouch Endowed Scholarship

In 1971, Greg entered SHSU as a junior, and in 1972 Kay entered SHSU as freshman. Both were biology majors. During their tenure al SHSU both were members of the Beta Beta Beta Biological Honor Society, and Kay was also a member of the Orange Keys service organization and the Alpha Chi Academic Honor Society. While attending SHSU. Kay and Greg worked their way through school as their families were unable to assist them financially and they were married students. Greg, a Vietnam Veteran, received educational assistance from the US. Government under the G. I. Bill. Kay and Greg also taught labs after classes, with Kay teaching Introductory Botany Labs for Dr. Ruth Thomas and Greg teaching Comparative Vertebrate Anatomy and Humm1 Anatomy and Physiology Labs for Dr. Barry Hinderstein. Greg was also an assistant to the Department Chair, Dr. John Hilliard. In 1994, Greg and Kay founded Crouch Environmental Services, Inc. (CESI). CESI specialized in the design and construction of wildlife habitat (wetlands mitigation) and biological surveys of state and federally listed threatened and endangered species. They also represented a large client base in conforming with environmental regulations in 2015, they sold their firm to one of their senior employees. Kay and Greg were students that needed financial assistance, just like you. They were very fortunate to have been mentored and assisted by several members of the SHSU faculty and to have received various small scholarships to help with tuition and books. Now, they are proud and happy to provide a little help to others as they endeavor to gain knowledge. wisdom and insight into the inhabitants and habitats of this incredible planet we all share.
