Dr. Joan L. Coffey Endowed Scholarship
Dr. Joan Coffey received her B.A. in history from Barat College of DePaul University in 1965, and both an M.A. (1986) and Ph.D. (1990) in modern European History from the university of Colorado at Boulder. She joined the Sam Houston State University History Department faculty in 1990, where she devoted herself to a career as a professor of history and a French historian until her passing in 2003. Dr. Coffey was a beloved professor, mentor, colleague, friend, and a loving spouse to her husband for 37 years. Dr. Coffey was an inspirational educator, professor, historian, and writer whose accomplishments are being honored by this endowment. This endowment was established by Edward C. Coffey in loving memory of his wife Dr. Joan L. Coffey.
