Ronny Carelock Memorial Athletic Scholarship

Ronald “Ronny” Wayne Carelock graduated from La Marque High School, La Marque, Texas in 1980. He loved sports, especially baseball and football, and was chosen as All District Tight End in his senior year. He received letters from two colleges showing interest in him as a baseball player for their schools, but he chose to attend Sam Houston State University where he planned to major in business. His dream was to fly out for football and baseball his first year at Sam, but he never had that opportunity. Seven weeks into his first semester, Ronny was in an automobile accident in Grimes County and did not survive. Establishing this scholarship is a way that the donors can carry on Ronny’s memory while helping other students achieve their academic as well as athletic goals at Sam.
