Esquire/Delta Tau Delta Endowed Scholarship

The Esquire/Delta Tau Delta Scholarship is awarded by Sam Houston State University to active members of the Epsilon Zeta Chapter of Delta Tau Delta. Students must complete an application that is available from the SHSU Epsilon Zeta Chapter of Delta Tau Delta. In 1938 a group of young students in Huntsville. TX formed the first men’s social club on campus to promote school spirit at , Sam Houston State Teachers College. They called themselves the Esquires and soon established traditions of service, fun, and camaraderie that were prized by generations of Sam Houston students. Twenty years later, with national fraternities expressing strong interest in the Esquires, the men voted to nationalize and join the Delta Tau Delta Fraternity on Janua1y 9, 1960, making DELT the first men’s Greek Fraternity on campus. Delta Tau Delta remains a mainstay of the Greek community at SHSU, carrying on its legacy and storied history on campus, and living by its fundamental principles of Truth. Courage, Faith, and Power .
