William (Al) and Elizabeth Rampmeier Endowed Scholarship

This scholarship was established by William (Al) Rampmeier, Class of 1965, and his wife Elizabeth, to provide financial assistance to selected students who have met the criteria. William (Al) Rampmeier, graduate of Sam Houston State University (SHSU), Class of 1965 and his wife Elizabeth, desire to leave the SHUF an endowment to fund scholarships for !he College of Military Science and/or College of Health Sciences. Al was the third in his family to go to college. “The sacrifices my family made were incredible to put three children through college”. Al went on to graduate from college in three and a half years while working as a dorm counselor at Roy Adams (a freshman dorm) and al various gas stations. He played intramural sports and was a Distinguished Military Graduate in ROTC. He received a EBA with a major in Accounting and minor in English upon graduating in January 1965, in the top one third of his class and the top one percent of his ROTC class. Al entered the United States Army as a 2LT in the Military Police on March 13, 1965. When asked why Al and Elizabeth want to create this endowment, they explained that there are not many scholarships available to help students whose GPA is 2.5-3.2, who participate in school activities, and work a job while al/ending college and this motivated them to create this scholarship for their financial benefit. Al believes that helping the student who goes to college, grows through education and works hard in life, is a blessing; they will be our future achievers and leaders. Al wants to help these students to dream big and reach for the stars. Al knows and understands that his growth, was due to his many mentors and to God. who helped him throughout his life.
