Janell Hankins Marek College of Business Administration Endowed Scholarship

Janell was born November 16, 1936 in the Humble Oil camp at Raccoon Bend, Austin County TX. She attended school at Hardin, graduating in 1954 as valedictorian of her high school class. She began college in the fall of 1954 at Sam Houston and graduated in the Spring of 1957. For most of her time at Sam Houston she held various part lime jobs on campus in addition to participating in several social and religious activities. By all accounts Janell greatly enjoyed her time at college and graduated in three years with a degree in business. Helping others has always been a big part of Janell’s life whether through volunteer work, charitable giving or just being a friend and supporter of someone in need She is a lifelong Methodist and was an active church member and worker for many years. I believe she would be pleased to know and be a part of the establishment of this scholarship and speaking for myself and on her behalf, it is our hope that it helps the recipients to achieve their goals and to realize their hopes and dreams in life.
