Tom and Melba Reese Agricultural Sciences Endowed Scholarship

Corrie Thomas “Tom” Reese received his Bachelor of Science degree in Technical Agriculture from Sam Houston State in 1956. Tom’s Wife, Melba Sue Matthews Reese, also attended Sam Houston for the year 1954-1955. They are Joint Life Endowed members of the Sam Houston State University Alumni Association. Tom received his Juris Doctorate Degree with honors from the University of Houston School of Law in 1966. Upon graduation from Law School Tom was employed by several universities. Tom spent 1973-1974 as an Assistant to the President of the University of Virginia, while on an American Council of Education Academic Administration Internship. In 1977. Tom accepted the position of Dean of the University of La Verne College of Law in California, and served in !hat position for three years. Tom planned to return to teaching higher education, but found that he enjoyed the practice and in 1982 resigned from the realm of higher education and became a fulltime practitioner in Lubbock Texas. Tom continued to leach as an Adjunct Professor of Law at Texas Tech for several years. Tom is an AV-rated Lawyer as voted by his peers, and has practiced Law in Lubbock Texas for the last 37 years. He continues his practice today. Tom and Melba have five children: Kathryn Victoria Reese, Andrea Sue Reese, Thomas Matthew Reese, James Bradley Reese, and Jeffrey Alan Reese. They are also !he proud grandparents of 10 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
