Christine Wanja Githumbi Memorial Scholarship

The Christine Wanja Githumbi Memorial Scholarship was established by the Githumbi Family Legacy Fund and Ruth W. Githumbi the donor representative of Houston, Texas. Christine was born on December 9, 1992, in Mobile, Alabama to Damaris and Joram Githumbi, Kenyan immigrants who established a legacy of service to others. She moved with her family to Houston, Texas when she was one year old. She received her B.A. in Psychology from Sam Houston State University in 2015 with plans of becoming a counselor. Christine endured much adversity in her short life and wanted to harness her passion for young people into a career in counseling, so she could help others who were experiencing their own hardships. On Monday, November 1, 2021, the loving sister, aunt, cousin, and friend passed away at the age of 28.
