After teaching at various elementary schools in both Louisiana and Texas, Carol decided to pursue her Master’s degree at Sam Houston State University. Upon completion of her degree, she returned to the public schools to serve as Assistant Principal, then later as Math Coordinator and then Testing Coordinator. Again, she returned to Sam Houston to receive her Doctorate of Educational Leadership in 1999. Dr. Ritter was instrumental is creating the distance learning program to assist students with pursuing their Master’s degrees without having to physically be on campus. Carol had to make the tough decision to retire so that she could focus on her health.
