Halina M. Lukaszewski Memorial Endowed Scholarship

This scholarship has been established in memory of Halina M. Lukaszewski the late wife of Dr. Witold J Lukaszewski faculty member in the Department of Political Science, Sam Houston State University. Halina, born in January 1919, was an exemplary student throughout her academic career and earned Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from St. Elizabeth’s College. She also earned a Master of Science degree, also in Chemistry, at Sam Houston State University in 1972. Witold and Halina were married in June 1960 and. six years later, became the happy parents of their daughter, Anna Marie, in April 1966. Witold, Halina, and Anna arrived in Huntsville upon Witold’s appointment to the faculty at Sam Houston State University in August 1970. Halina died in 1973; Witold remained at Sam Houston until his retirement as Professor Emeritus in 2007. Halina ’s husband and daughter established this scholarship in loving memory of their wife and mother and, in recognition of her lifelong striving for excellence, also with the expectation that its beneficiaries will similarly set for themselves only the highest standards of achievement as they build their future.
