Augusta Lawrence Endowed Scholarship

This scholarship was created in the image of Miss Augusta Lawrence. She was a professor of English at Sam Houston State Teachers College who served the institution in many other capacities. Under her instruction and inspiration many Texas youth received wholesome encouragement and were able to add an impulse to the attainment of the high ideals of duty, honor, and intelligent citizenship so exemplified by her daily life. Miss Augusta Lawrence was able to make a long-time contribution to, not only the student life of Sam Houston State Teachers College, but to to the State of Texas, and to the Nation.
