Bonnie and McNeil Moore Football Endowed Scholarship

The Bonnie and McNeil Moore Football Endowed Scholarship was established by McNeil Moore of Center, Texas. McNeil Moore played for the Owls his freshman year at Rice University, he chose to continue his academic and football career at Sam Houston State Teacher’s College. While at SHSU, he set several school records including, the single game rushing record of 286 yards. He continued his football career being drafted by the Chicago Bears in 1954 and playing until a knee injury ended his career in 1957. It is the Donor’s intent for the endowment to provide one or more annual scholarship awards at a minimum of $1,000 each to be announced in the spring and disbursed the following academic year, half in the fall and the remaining half in the spring semester. Scholarship awards shall not exceed 80% of the earnings of the endowment. This scholarship was established to assist with education expenses.
