Charles and Helen Lindsay Endowed Scholarship in Music

The Charles and Helen Lindsay Endowed Scholarship in Music was established by Ann Lindsay Cloud ‘57 of Austin, Texas in memory of her parents, Charles and Helen Lindsay to provide financial assistance to deserving music students at Sam Houston State University. Both Dr. and Mrs. Charles Lindsay received their degrees from SHSU; Dr. Lindsay received his Master of Arts degree in Music from Sam Houston in 1941 and Mrs. Lindsey received a Bachelor of Science in Education in 1955. He also taught music at SHSU and was choir director for the United Methodist Church. It is the Donor’s intent for the endowment to provide one or more annual scholarship awards at a minimum of $1,000 each to be announced in the spring and disbursed the following academic year, half in the fall and the remaining half in the spring semester. Scholarship awards shall not exceed the earnings of the endowment. This scholarship was established to assist with education expenses.
