Charles and Wanda Jones Community Service Endowed Scholarship

Charles W Jones Jr. was the son of Charles W Jones Sr. and Vista Jones of Moundville, Alabama and the oldest of ten-children. !le enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1949 and served until retirement in 1975, including a tour in Vietnam. After retirement, he became a civil servant at various VA facilities in Texas. He and his wife, Wanda Jones, had five children – Tim Jones, Denise Jones, Claudia Choate, Charles Jones, and John Jones. Charles Jones was active in the Lubbock and Temple, Texas communities, especially with the Lutheran Church and the American Legion. Charles and Wanda Jones Community Service Scholarship Endowment is a competitive scholarship awarded by Sam Houston State University. It is awarded to students in good standing enrolled at Sam Houston State University majoring in any discipline. The student must have demonstrated involvement in some kind of community service.
