Charles Forque Instrumental Scholarship

The Charles Forque Instrumental Scholarship was established by Henry J. and Juanita B. Akagi of Rusk, Texas and Charles E. and Ednajo M. Forque of McKinney, Texas with proceeds from the sale of timber and surface of 227 acres land donated to Sam Houston State University. Charles E. Forque received his Bachelor of Arts in music in 1952 from Sam Houston and returned to complete his Master of Art in music in 1970. Ednajo McKinnon Forque received her Associate of Art degree in history in 1956. Juanita McKinnon Akagi and Ednajo McKinnon Forque are sisters. It is the Donor’s intent for the endowment to provide one or more annual scholarship awards to be announced in the spring and disbursed the following academic year, half in the fall and the remaining half in the spring semester. Scholarship awards shall not exceed the earnings of the endowment. This scholarship was established to assist with education expenses.
