CBS/Dan Rather Endowed Scholarship

The CBS/Dan Rather Endowed Scholarship was created by the CBS Foundation of New York City, New York in honor of Dan Rather. Dan Rather is a 1953 graduate of Sam Houston State University with a degree in journalism. Mr. Rather anchored the CBS Evening News for 24 years and reported for the network for a total of 44 years, covering the assassination of President Kennedy, Martin Luther King Jr.’s pursuit of racial equality, the Vietnam War, and the Watergate scandal. This scholarship was established to assist with education expenses.
